Capt. Allen Hughes started his boating life as a young boy in Barnegat Bay, N.J. Allen's love of the sea came from his father, who loved fishing and understood the importance of family time. “My family has wonderful boating memories and adventures,” Allen said. “Our boat outings brought us to many different locales and the trips brought us great joy and excitement.”
Summers were spent fishing at the Jersey Shore, where Allen was given his first boat, a 13-foot Boston Whaler, at the age of 13. There, he learned to maneuver the waterways. Allen moved to Florida with his family while in high school. At that point, boating became a year-round activity. At age 21, Allen earned his U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license. The first boat he captained was named “Sea Biscuit,” based in Stuart, Florida. From there, he fished the southeastern seaboard
Allen eventually joined the family hotel business and grew his holdings in Daytona Beach. At age 40, he owned three oceanfront hotels, and his company managed two others. To get back to his true love, boating, he liquidated his hotels, and with long time friend Mike Moore, started Summit Yacht Sales. “This has been a culmination of dreams, to create the perfect lifestyle of boating, and to share it with others,” he said. “The thought of helping others explore this lifestyle is an exhilarating thought”

Capt. Mike Moore has been boating since a very young age with his family. Growing up in Central Florida, Mike's love for boating came from water skiing trips with his father. Mike wanted to learn how to drive boats, so he and his father could spend quality time together on the water.
Some of Mike's favorite memories of childhood came from those family adventures. Mike has owned many ski boats and other watercraft throughout his life. “Trudi and I wanted to create that kind of ‘great family times’ memories for my son. When he was born, we already had a ski boat and personal watercraft. We then bought our first cabin cruiser, a Sea Ray 330 Dancer. If you now ask my son, who is 19, about his childhood memories, I am sure it will be all about the times we were on the boats -- fishing, water skiing, diving, just enjoying each other.”
Mike has since owned seven more Sea Rays from 37 to 50 feet. He has also owned a 43-foot Post Sport Fish, a 43-foot Ocean Yacht SS, and as several center consoles from 19 to 33 feet.
